NISSAN SKYLINE GT-R R33 V-SPEC (1996)
Spotted at Fuji Speedway, this GT-R was is one of a limited run released back in 1996 in honor of the widebody, RB26DETT-powered Nismo cars than ran in Le Mans. Available only in Competition Blue, these Skylines came with factory intakes on the front bar, a carbon rear spoiler and a nice little sticker on the c-pillar, among other things.
The R33 GTR still used the RB26DETT engine from the R32 GTR. The engine experienced an increase in torque from increased turbo boost pressure to 0.84 bar and adjusted electronic fuel delivery from 353Nm to 367Nm, but the gentlemans agreement of the 280bhp maximum from a production car at that time was kept. The R33 GTR also was more aerodynamic , the R32 GTR drag coefficiant was 0.40, where the R33 GTR produced only 0.35, although this is easily reversed as soon as the adjustable rear wing setting is altered to allow more downforce, or the replacement of the rear wing for an aftermarket one.
Both the R33 GTR and R33 GTR V-spec were released to buy at the same time, although the V-Spec numbers produced were much less. The V-spec model had stiffer damping, and lowered suspension by about 10mm to improved the handling, also the ATESSA E-TS got the PRO treatment on the V-spec which controlled up to 50% of the throttle to the front wheels in only 1,000th of a second if the rear wheels lost traction, aswell as assistance in power transfer from the Active Limited Slip Differential (A-LSD).
